My wonderful family
Sunday, February 1, 2009, 5:04 AM

In your opinion your family is the best in the world. Some of you do not think so; however I obviously do-my cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, siblings and parents. Some of them are intelligent. Some of them are kind and caring and some of them are ridiculously funny. However all of them, in just one word, are great!

Firstly, my uncles rock. They take me out whenever they get a chance. My mum’s brother treats us for expensive dinners when we do very well in exams. My aunts have also taken us out before but not us much as my uncle. He takes me and my brother out. All boys, no girls. It is much for fun that way. If you are a guy you would know.

I have cousins from Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, England and of course India. All of them are the best. However I have only seen my cousins from England and India once or twice. That is why I do not really know them well. My cousins from Australia come nearly every year to visit or we would go there. They are wonderful sweethearts. When we meet once a year we spent all the time together. They would be staying in my house. We would sleep after midnight watching movies. I really enjoy their company and always look forward to their next visit.

My grandparents are the kindest people in the world. Every single time we meet, they would have a gift for us. My father’s father until now is my idol. He passed away when I was four years old. However I still can remember one time he was taking a video of me playing with my helicopter toy, that he gave me. I was sitting under the dinning table and he said, ‘‘look at the camera, Ajay. Say hello.” Even now reading this I would feel very sad and occasionally cry because I wish he was still with me because he would have supported me in every way he could. ( I would be writing a blog just about him and his life) My parents are a mixture of loving, caring and strict people. They are also my idols in life.

These are the components that complete my family- my cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents and parents. Some of them are intelligent. Some of them are kind and caring and some of them are ridiculously funny. However all of them, in just one word, are great!

A wierd afternoon
1:06 AM

It was 4.00 in the afternoon. I was on my way back from school. School ended later for my class as we had extra lessons in the afternoon. I was exhausted. I slept at 11.30pm the night before and had school all the way until 3.25pm.

I was walking from the MRT station at Kembangan to my house. It was a 15 minute walk. As I was passing by the big field, where I come to play football with friends or family, I noticed a tall Indian boy walking in front of me. He occasionally stopped and looked back at me as if he was keeping an eye on me. I got slightly worried as he looked much older than me. He looked about 18 years old. I continued walking and was thinking in my head, “how do I find out if this boy he keeping a look out of me?” I then took out my handphone from my pocket. I pretended to talk on my handphone and then I sat on a nearby bench. I turned my head to look at the boy to see if he was looking at me. He was. He was not walking but just standing in one spot and looking at me. Some how he looked slightly familiar but I could not recognise him. To confirm my suspicion that he was trying to keep an eye on me, I got up from the bench and continued walking. He did not continue. He just stood there as if he was waiting for me.

He suddenly said, “Hi”. I was surprised. I thought he was going to maybe steal my wallet or something but he started a friendly conversation. I found out that he was the son of the owner of a nearby ‘mama shop’. I also found out he was still studying in secondary school as he had a learning difficulty. That day I learnt a valuable lesson. Most of us a lucky to be able to learn much faster than others so we have to be grateful to god for so many things that we have.

Some sports on Chinese New Year
Saturday, January 31, 2009, 6:09 AM

On Chinese New Year eve I had one of the most enjoyable days off my life. I spent time ice skating, bowling and watching a soccer match with my father and brother. Well today, I did not go ice skating or go for bowling, I spent the day mainly playing sports.

As usual, on weekends or public holidays, I woke up at about ten and started studies at about ten thirty. At twelve thirty I would stop for lunch and resume at two in the afternoon until four. From that time onwards it was a long break until eight.

During these four hours I played two different kinds of sports. Table tennis and football. My brother and I started off with the less tiring one, table tennis. There is a table tennis table at a void deck very close to my house. We walked there in less than two minutes. We started hitting small plastic orange ‘ping pong’ balls onto the table and see whether the opponent could be able to hit the balls back to each other. Out of five matches I won four of them.

After forty five minutes of ‘ping pong’ fun we went home for a glass of water and within ten minutes we were ready to play the second sport, football. There is a field near my house but it is a ten minute walk. When we reached there we, I mean I did some warming up like stretching and slow jogging. We had some shooting and target practice. After fifteen minutes my friends arrived. There are my neighbours. I had invited them. So we played a small match. However my team lost this time. I enjoyed myself thoroughly. This Chinese New Year has yet again put a smile on my face. Gong Xi Fai Chai!

A very enjoyable Chinese New Year eve
Tuesday, January 27, 2009, 10:47 PM

It was the eve of Chinese New Year. The day started off as an ordinary one but soon bloomed into one of the most enjoyable days of my life.

Ten thirty in the morning. You would probably think I was still snoring in bed. Well, no! I was hitting the books, revising for the oncoming maths test, which i hoped to ace. Then at twelve thirty I had my lunch break. However the next study period was at two in the afternoon until four. I just dreaded studying. However I really needed to improve my grades so I really had to use this time to go all out.

That day I did not realise something that would have changed my mind set about the boring day ahead. My father’s unusual happiness. He rarely smiles from ear to ear. Only when he is very very happy about something. Suddenly I heard my name being called. It was my dad.My brother was also being called by him. First he started chatering about our studies and then he suddenly changed the subject.

“How would you like to go ice skating?” he suddenly asked. And from that moment on it was fun, fun and just fun.I was so glad to here that sentence. We went to Kallang Leisure Park, where there was an ice skating ring. It was the first time for me and my brother. We had an awesome time. Ice skating was so much different from walking. I fell about four times. It is not as easy as it looks. My father having past experiences could skate pretty well but as for brother and I, we stank! He may think he is better than me but my dad says it all.

After spending two long hours, we expected to be heading home. However our father surprised us by taking us for bowling! At that time I was thinking, “Is dad possessed by a very happy spirit who enjoyed his life on earth?” We played three rounds of bowling. I had come in first, then second, then third. Overall i was second just behind my dad. After playing bowling we had dinner. And after that we expected to go home and guess what we did!

The fun was still not over. That night Arsenal FC was going to play against Cardiff City in the FA Cup. Being a fan of Arsenal, I was hoping a win. However that night we played below standards and it ended up a goalless draw.

The eve of Chinese New Year is never a ordinary day!
